Kimberley Nurseries are Recruiting – Nursery Workers & Delivery Driver
Based in Slapton, Devon, Kimberley Nurseries is a wholesale plant nursery that has been in operation since the 1940s. We grow plants for garden centres & landscapers across Devon and Cornwall and have a keen interest in the environment
We are recruiting for reliable, positive and enthusiastic individuals with a can do attitude and an interest in plants to join our team. Experience is not necessary as we will provide training. We can be very flexible for the right people. Longer term there are opportunities to progress into more senior roles. The roles are available on a full-time or part-time basis and on a long term or short term basis. Our busiest time is from mid-February to July so we would definitely want people to be able to work then.
For both roles we are looking for individuals that are keen to progress in the business and take on a leadership role in the future. As a small business it is advantageous to have skills that allow you to assist in other areas of the operation such as the office - printing labels, creating availability lists etc, so software skills such as Excel are very useful.
Nursery workers
The nursery work is very hands-on and physical and would include working with plants and preparing them for orders in a fast-paced environment. You would be responsible for the plants from potting up plugs and seeds until they leave the nursery. This can be a physical job and requires a good level of fitness. Duties will include:
potting up plugs & sowing seeds either manually or by machine
putting plants down in the tunnels and glasshouses
maintaining plants – feeding, weeding & deadheading
keeping the growing areas clean and weed free
preparing plants for dispatch
monitoring and watering plants
general site maintenance, cleaning and repairs
The role will involve standing on feet all day and walking up narrow paths so balance and fitness is key. Experience of tractor/forklift driving is advantageous. Due to our remote location, a driving license is key. Onsite parking is available. A driving license would also enable you to act as a backup delivery driver when required.
Delivery Driver
We are also looking for a driver to deliver our plants to our customers in Devon & Cornwall. Our insurance states that the driver needs to be 25+ years. Ideally this work would be combined with nursery work as the number of delivery days varies over the year from 1 to 3 days a week. Duties will include:
Representing Kimberley Nurseries to our customers
Delivering to customers in Devon & Cornwall in our Luton van
Loading the truck with danish trolleys & ensuring safe transit
Unloading the danish trolleys and sometimes plant trays at customers
Handling delivery paperwork
Liaising with customers and handling any feedback they may have
If you would love to work with plants in a friendly, beautiful setting, please email your CV or an outline of your experience to info@kimberleynurseries.co.uk.
